IPL 2021: Four overseas MI players who will be regular starters
Just like every other IPL auction, the MI think tank once again had a lucrative time at the 2021 auction’s table. Despite having such an immaculate balance in terms of their foremost playing XI, the team did lack an experienced spinner along with the required bolstering of some overseas pacers. At the auction’s table, the think tank first shrewdly acquired the experience of Piyush Chawla and then bagged some quality overseas pacers. Now with once again having the required plethora, here are our top four overseas players being the regular starters for MI in IPL 2021.
1. Quinton De Kock
Prior to joining the MI camp, Quinton De Kock was barely a widely known entity in the IPL. But ever since he has donned the blue and gold jersey, the wicket-keeper batsman has established his place in the playing XI. Since his debut in the 2019 edition, the South African skipper has twice amassed a total of more than 500 runs consecutively in two seasons for MI. Both skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock have been a reliable pair for MI at the top and hopefully, the duo should once again be able to layout their excellence in the 2021 edition.
2. Kieron Pollard
Being a quintessential cog in the MI’s exuberant batting line up for more than a decade now, this herculean’s selection is a no brainer. Both Lasith Malinga and Pollard can also be called MI’s biggest overseas match-winners to date. Since his debut in 2010, this stalwart has played over 164 matches for MI and has amassed a total of more than three thousand runs in blue and gold. Apart from his fibrous batting, he is also MI’s best fielder guarding the business ends like a 10 feet tall wall. Pollard’s all-round package has always served as the crux of the team’s balance and hence once again we will expect him to have an eventful IPL for MI’s Paltan.
3. Trent Boult
This kiwi pacer had a meticulous year in 2020 with the new ball for the MI camp. In his 15 matches, the left-handed pacer successfully scalped a total of 25 wickets. A flourishing show in the last edition has made Boult MI’s second front-liner seamer and will be expected to play a similar role in the upcoming edition. His razor-sharp ability to fetch quick wickets with a new ball, subsequently allows the likes of Jasprit Bumrah to come in much later, along with eventually permitting skipper Rohit Sharma to have additional overs of Bumrah at the death. Such a strategy was a winning formula for MI in 2020 and hopefully should again help them stupendously win their next title.
4. Nathan Coulter-Nile
Coulter Nile’s proposition has always allured MI and that’s the reason why once again he was fetched by the think tank. His all-round ability to be a lethal bowler who also can reasonably score some pivotal runs down the order is one of the main reasons why not just MI, but most teams want him in their squad. Because of being massively injury-prone, Coulter-Nile had missed the first half of IPL 2020 and could only play seven matches for them. Now with James Pattinson gone, this right-handed pacer will surely be MI’s second front-line pacer in the upcoming edition. All in all, as an MI fan one would surely want this stalwart to blaze as many wickets as possible.
