Three most memorable moments from Road Safety World Series 2020
So, we are all set to witness the legends in action once again. The eagerly anticipated Road Safety Series is set to commence on 5th March 2021, with the India Legends taking on the Bangladesh Legends in the opening fixture. The series will feature some of the greatest players that the game has ever produced, including names like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Sanath Jayasuriya, Brian Lara and Kevin Pietersen.
The series will be held over a period of 16 days, with the final slated to be played on 21st March 2021. In fact, the series had to be stopped last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. But now, the fans will get to see their favorite stars back in action. On that note, let us take a look at the 3 Best Moments of the Road Safety Series from the 2020 edition.
3. Irfan Pathan goes berserk against Sri Lanka Legends
In the match against Sri Lanka Legends, it looked as though the India Legends side was down and out. Chasing a target of 139, the Indian side lost the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh inside the first 5 overs, and the match seemed to slip away from their hands.

But then, Irfan Pathan stepped up and played a blinder of an innings. In a knock that was embellished with 6 fours and 3 sixes, the left-hander tore into the Sri Lankan bowling attack and blasted a 31-ball unbeaten 57 to help his side comfortably cross the line with 5 wickets and 1.2 overs to spare.
2. Chaminda Vaas proves that he has still ‘got it’
Chaminda Vaas’ relentless accuracy made him a difficult bowler to face. In his international career that lasted a decade and a half, the left-arm pacer picked up more than 750 wickets. And, in the encounter against the India Legends side, Vaas was at his lethal best.
The left-arm pacer silenced the Mumbai crowd after he scalped the wicket of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. He also prized out the wicket of Yuvraj Singh as well. In fact, in the 3 overs that he bowled, Vaas gave away just 5 runs, and also picked up 2 wickets. And, with his magical performance with the ball in hand, Vaas proved to the world that he has still ‘got it’ in him, even at the age of 46.
1. Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag roll the clock back against West Indies Legends
The sight of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar walking out to bat was one to behold. Both the batting legends ripped apart several bowling attacks in their heyday. In fact, it was on 28th February 2012 that Sehwag and Tendulkar opened the batting together for the last time for India. Eight years later, on 7th March 2020, the two batsmen rolled the clock back against the West Indies Legends in Mumbai.

The Indian Legends were set a target of 151, and it was the rollicking start that the Sehwag-Tendulkar duo provided that allowed India to romp home with ease. The two batsmen put on a scintillating 83 run stand for the opening wicket in just 10.2 overs, to send the fans on a nostalgia trip. While Tendulkar scored a classy 36, Sehwag blasted a murderous 57 ball unbeaten 74 as the India Legends won the match with 7 wickets to spare.
