IPL 2021: Four overseas players who will be confirmed starters for RCB

AB

Royal Challengers Bangalore has been desperate to win an IPL title now for years. They have always had the best players and a great leader in Virat Kohli in the past few years. However, they haven’t yet won one. Ahead of the 2021 IPL, there are some expectations that this could be the year for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Let us see which of the four overseas are definitely starters for the upcoming season.

4. AB de Villiers

Well any amount of praise for ABD is less. The South African batsman has been a stalwart for RCB in the past few years. More often than not, he has been short of good partners at the other end. But, this year, some pressure will be off him with the addition of some middle-order big-hitters. It will be interesting to see if he takes up the role of the wicketkeeper once again, something which had provided RCB with great balance and advantage in the previous season.

 3. Glenn Maxwell

RCB went in for Glenn Maxwell in the IPL 2021 auction and secured the services of the Australian all-rounder for INR 14.25 crores. The kind of ability which Maxwell possesses and the kind of performances that he has given in T20 format justify the large sum of money which RCB bid on him. But, his IPL record isn’t impressive. Since he appeared in the auction, his salary has gone up. Despite his worst ever IPL season last year, his international performances for Australia helped him to get another big paycheque and has to play in the first XI for RCB.

 2. Daniel Christian

Daniel Christian was bought by RCB for INR 4.2 crores after a bidding war with KKR. He had previously played for RCB in 2013, but this year he will return with a reputation of winning T20 leagues around the world. Christian is a seasoned campaigner with experience of winning a T20 championship in England, Australia, South Africa and the West Indies. It is his addition that makes RCB look like a formidable line-up as he adds experience and balance, something which this team needed desperately.

 1. Kyle Jamieson

Everyone knew that the young New Zealand pacer was going to get picked up by some or the other team, but the sheer volume of money which RCB spent on him has surprised many. He was bought for INR 15 crores, which is one of the highest bids for any player in history. However, he does add quality to the bowling attack. RCB were looking for a foreign fast-bowler with little capability to tonk the ball so that they could replace him with Dale Steyn and Chris Morris. Kyle Jamieson looks fit for the role but he is short of experience and it would be interesting to see how he matures through the tournament.
