IPL 2021 Auction: Here’s how all the action unfolded in Chennai
That’s it, folks! It was an exhilarating auction as usual and the teams went bonkers with the desperation of filling up the chinks in their armour before IPL 2021. Punjab had the largest purse and they were aggressive in the event along with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad were smart in picking what they needed. Rajasthan Royals have built a phenomenal squad while Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders also moved in the right direction.
These are the ten most expensive players sold in this IPL auction.

Welcome to the live coverage of IPL 2021 auction. The event begins at 3 PM in Chennai. The franchises were asked to finalise their squads by releasing a few players by 20th January. Now the released cricketers and newly added players make up the roster for this auction. A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and 3 players associate nations complete the line-up.
There are 10 cricketers, including Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Jason Roy etc., who in the INR 2 crore bracket – the highest reserve price. There are 12 and 11 players respectively in the INR 1.5 crore and INR 1 crore list.
There have been a few last-minute changes as well. Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has been added to the list while English fast bowler Mark Wood has withdrawn his name. Keep following the blog and our social handles for all the live updates.
