IND vs ENG: Social media buzzes with praise for Rishabh Pant’s wicketkeeping

Rishabh Pant

The second Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai finished within four days as the home side registered a crushing 317-run victory. The pitch was the centre point of the discussion on social media since it started deteriorating rapidly from day one. However, it also gave an opportunity for the wicketkeepers to show their prowess. While England’s Ben Foakes impressed on the first two days, it was India’s Rishabh Pant who grabbed the limelight on day three and four.

Pant began the fourth day with a stunning stumping of Dan Lawrence on the bowling of R Ashwin. The batsman completely misread the length of the ball and it went through his legs. Pant pocketed it expertly behind the stumps and effected a quick stumping. He later pulled off another stumping of Moeen Ali to finish the English innings. The wicketkeeper has been criticised previously for shoddy work behind the stumps, but on this occasion, he was well up to the mark.

Here’s how many experts praised Pant’s keeping on social media.
