Five cricketers who got married in 2020

Chahal-Dhanashree

2020 was an eventful year when it comes to our beloved cricketers. Apart from invariably watching them on the field, we also saw them doing contrasting activities off the field. During the lockdown period, we had cricketers doing Instagram live interviews with their fellow mates. Some even started their full-time YouTube Channels (Ravi Ashwin). Some made us giggle with their Tik-Tok videos (David Warner). But there were some cricketers who in 2020 chose their life partners forever. So here’s a list of 5 cricketers who got married in 2020.

5. Yuzvendra Chahal

It was in August when India’s prolific leg-spinner had surprised his fans by his engagement pictures and within four months, we saw him tying the knot with his life companion Dhanashree Verma. Dhanashree is a choreographer and a YouTuber by profession. Here’s what Dhanashree said when asked about how the couple met – “It started off as a student-teacher relationship in April. He had seen my dance videos on YouTube and knew about my work. During the lockdown, Yuzi decided to learn a few new things, including dance. So, he got in touch with me and we started our classes. Slowly we became friends and sort of felt a connect.”

4. Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy got married to his long-time girlfriend Neha Khedekar. The wedding ceremony happened in Chennai on December 12th. The wedding was supposed to happen earlier in the year but the couple had to enter into a wedlock. Because of the national lockdown, Varun was stranded in Chennai while Neha spent her time in Mumbai.

3. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Afghanistan’s spin sensation had last year made headlines when he got engaged in October. But as soon as the IPL 2020 ended where he had an indifferent outing with KXIP, Mujeeb did begin his new innings on November 14th. As per the wedding video which had got viral on social media, it included two prominent players Mohammad Nabi and Gulbadin Naib seen dancing in the huddle.

2. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya and Nataša Stanković had already started their year with a boom when they announced their engagement during the New year’s eve. But it was in May when the couple made surprising revelations by sharing the news of Nataša being pregnant along with their quarantine wedding. Hardik via his Instagram handle did share the couple’s wedding rituals.

This list would have been entirely incomplete if we hadn’t featured this lovely couple. Delissa Kimmince and Laura Harris, both being Australian Women cricketers, had been dating for four years. The proposal was on cards when Harris and Kimmince had both won their Big Bash League title for Brisbane Heat back in 2018-19. The couple tied their knot on August 13th and did share their wedding photos via Instagram.
