Parthiv Patel announces retirement from all forms of cricket
One of India’s most accomplished wicketkeeper-batsmen, Parthiv Patel, has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 35-year old confirmed the development from his social media handle. Making his international debut in the year 2002 against England at the age of 17 years and 153 days, Parthiv became Test Cricket’s youngest wicketkeeper.

After his Test debut, Patel soon found a place in the ODI side. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand in January 2003. He was later selected in the Indian squad for the 2003 Cricket World Cup but did not play any games. He failed to cement his spot in the side with the likes of Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni performing consistently. Patel produced scintillating performances in domestic cricket to remain in contention.
Overall, Patel has played 25 Tests and 38 ODIs for India in which he has scored 934 and 736 runs respectively. In his staggering first-class career, he featured in a total of 194 matches and piled up 11,240 runs with 27 centuries. He also led Gujarat to their maiden Ranji Trophy victory in 2016-17. He also boasts of more than 9,000 runs in limited-overs cricket. His last India appearance was in January 2018 where he kept wickets for Test side in South Africa.
