AUS vs IND: BCCI announces all three squads for Australia tour
BCCI conducted the selection meeting via video-conference on Monday (26th October) to select the Indian squads for the upcoming Tour of Australia. India will be playing three T20Is, three ODIs and four Test matches against Australia starting from 3rd December with the Test series.
Rohit Sharma is not included in any of the squads owing to his hamstring injury. His inclusion will depend on his fitness. Shubman Gill has earned a maiden call-up to the Test squad as a back-up opener. Mohammad Siraj will also be in line to make his Test debut for India. His selection comes after Ishant Sharma suffered an injury which has ruled him out of the ongoing IPL.
The selectors have dropped Rishabh Pant from both the ODI and T20I squads. His lack of fitness has been floated as a reason. KL Rahul will be donning the wicket-keeping gloves with Sanju Samson being his back-up in T20Is. Varun Chakravarthy, the mystery spinner currently playing for KKR, has earned a maiden national call-up in T20Is for India.
