One bowler from each IPL team who can deliver a successful super over

The Indian Premier League is definitely not heaven for bowlers. With batsmen breaking records each day, it requires a lot of spirit to bowl something as difficult as a super over. Here we talk about some of the best bowlers in the format who can prove, and have proven to be extremely effective for their franchises.

1. Delhi Capitals- Kagiso Rabada

No prizes for guessing. He bundled out KXIP for merely 2 runs in the super-over of the very 1st match he played this season. Rabada had taken the wicket of t20 stalwart Andre Russell last season in the super over, taking DC home yet again. Rabada has an extremely effective yorker and short-ball, and he’s not short on pace by any means. This is why it’s difficult for batsmen to pick him up in the super over or even in the death overs.

2. Mumbai Indians- Jasprit Bumrah

One of the best limited-overs bowlers in the modern day, MI do not have to think beyond him as an option for bowling the super-over. Before Rabada broke his record this time, Bumrah was joint 1st in the list to have conceded the least amount of runs in a super-over in the IPL- 6.

3. Chennai Super Kings- Dwayne Bravo

One of CSK’s pivotal death bowlers who is unfit as of now. Once he returns to the playing XI, Bravo will definitely be given the responsibility of handling the death overs. He crossed the 500-wicket mark in t20s in this year’s CPL. With his tricky variations and slower deliveries, batsmen won’t be able to score off him easily.

4. Kolkata Knight Riders- Sunil Narine

Narine is the only bowler in the history of the format to have bowled a maiden in a super over. He achieved the feat in CPL 2014 against KXIP batsman Nicholas Pooran. This, along with the fact that KKR do not have a specialist death bowler, makes Narine an obvious choice for bowling a super-over.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore- Navdeep Saini

After an okayish season last year for RCB, where he bowled well in the death in a couple of games, he was drafted into India’s T20I squad. Saini performed really well for India, picking up wickets and stemming the flow of runs. Since RCB already lack a specialist death bowler, Saini seems to be the most obvious choice with his fiery pace and yorkers.

6. Kings XI Punjab- Mohammad Shami

Shami had to defend 2 runs in the super over he had to bowl against Delhi. That was obviously a difficult task. With his pace and ability to bowl bouncers, he can surely prove to be one of the most effective customers for Punjab.

7. Rajasthan Royals- Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer. We can never forget his super-over in the World Cup Finals. Bowling under that much pressure is something that often makes the best fail. With his express pace and fiery yorkers, he has the ability to strike fear in the hearts of opposition batsmen in a super-over.

8. Sunrisers Hyderabad – T Natarajan

Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a major issue with their strike pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar being ruled out of the Indian Premier League. However, T Natarajan has stepped up to the plate. The left-arm pace bowler from Tamil Nadu has delivered yorkers on demand and will be a wonderful option in the super over.
