“Dream come true”: DC’s Tushar Despande relishes meeting idol Dale Steyn

The Indian Premier League has given plenty of Indian and international cricketers a platform to shine on the biggest stage. Rubbing shoulders with legends, listening to experienced coaches and playing alongside idols is a dream come true for any upcoming cricketer. Delhi Capitals’ Tushar Deshpande recently got to fulfil his biggest dream – of meeting South African express pacer Dale Steyn.

Tushar, who hasn’t yet played for Delhi in the IPL, caught up with Steyn after the match between the Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 5. DC’s official Twitter account recently posted a video clip of the interaction between the two cricketers.

“I am speechless right now because he [Steyn] has been my idol over the years. I met him for the first time, and he answered all my questions very humbly. I felt very good,” Tushar said, sharing his experience of meeting his idol.

Although Steyn has had a mixed tournament so far, many upcoming young fast bowlers rever him for his pace and skill. 25-year-old Tushar, who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket, is one such youngster. Steyn was more than happy to share his wisdom with the Mumbai lad and wished him all the best.
