Cricket Australia to allow limited fans in Australia-New Zealand Women’s series

Cricket Australia has announced it will allow a limited number of fans to attend the upcoming series between Australia Women & New Zealand Women. The three-match T20I and ODI series starts on September 26 in Brisbane.

Named the ‘Rose Bowl Trophy’, the limited-overs series has been scheduled at the Allan Border Field. The area will be split into six zones and fans present at the venue will not be permitted to cross over. They have also been advised to maintain a distance of a “couple of cricket bat lengths.”

According to the state government regulations, the attendance capacity has been capped off at 50%. There will also be restrictions on interactions amongst fans in the stadium such as cheering, singing or shouting to eliminate human transmission. Now fans won’t be able to interact, click photographs, get autographs, etc. from players at the boundary lines. The payment procedures have been made contactless as well to reduce the risk of contact.

Earlier this year in March, the MCG hosted the T20 Women’s World Cup final between Australia and India. It turned out to be the last international game with crowds in the country. Australia went on to beat India to lift the trophy amid 80,000+ spectators at the MCG. Australia Women have been enjoying their recent dominance over the White Ferns. They’re currently on a five-match unbeaten streak against New Zealand Women.
