The Kolkata Knight Riders have signed USA pacer Ali Khan to replace the injured Harry Gurney in IPL 2020. The England bowler pulled out of the IPL and T20 Blast and is due to undergo shoulder surgery.

With this historic move from the Kolkata franchise, 29-year-old Ali Khan becomes the first player from USA to feature in the IPL. KKR’s official Twitter account confirmed the news on Sunday (September 13).

Ali was part of the Trinbago Knight Riders in the recently concluded CPL 2020. TKR finished the season unbeaten and also clinched their 4th CPL title. The USA quick had a decent outing with the team, picking up eight wickets in as many games.

Ali’s debut CPL season in 2018 was an impressive one, where he picked up 16 wickets in 12 matches. It was at the Global T20 Canada that then TKR skipper Dwayne Bravo spotted Ali’s talent. Besides being a T20 freewheeler, Ali has played one ODI for the national team.
