Delhi Capitals rope in former Australian pacer as bowling coach

Delhi Capitals have now availed the services of Ryan Harris as their bowling coach for the upcoming IPL season in the UAE. The 40-year old former Australian pace bowler will replace James Hopes, another Australian bowling coach who was associated with DC since 2018. Hopes will not be able to travel to the UAE due to personal reasons. The Capitals team announced the development from their official Twitter handle.

Speaking on his appointment, Harris said, “I am delighted to be back in the IPL. This is a huge opportunity for me to contribute to the franchise’s ambitions of lifting the coveted IPL trophy. The Delhi Capitals side has an impressive bowling line up, and I can’t wait to start working with them all.”

A late bloomer in international cricket, Harris has taken 113 Test wickets, 44 ODI wickets, and 4 T20I wickets for Australia. In 2009, he was a part of the IPL-winning squad of the Deccan Chargers. He has played in 37 IPL matches with 45 wickets across five seasons. Injuries forced him to announce his retirement in 2015. Since then, Harris has accepted coaching stints with the Australian team, Big Bash League side Brisbane Heat, and Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. The Delhi Capitals coaching staff already features Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Kaif, Samuel Badree & Vijay Dahiya.
