Ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will not be travelling with the Chennai Super Kings squad to the UAE for IPL 2020. The 40-year-old bowler also skipped the 6-day training camp organised by the franchise in Chennai. It is learnt that Harbhajan’s mother is unwell and he will be staying in India for two more weeks.

With the rest of the squad flying to the UAE, Harbhajan is expected to join the Yellow Army in two weeks time. The off-spinner has not played any form of cricket since the 2019 IPL final against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad where the Super Kings lost on the final ball. On the UAE tracks, the experience and skill of Harbhajan will be essential to MS Dhoni’s winning strategy.

Chennai Super Kings recently completed their training sessions in Chennai. Two different pitches were prepared to facilitate different types of bowling. While one was a typical red soil pitch, the other wicket was primarily clay. Captain Dhoni was reported to be very happy with the preparations.

Winning the IPL title three times, Chennai Super Kings have appeared in every playoff or semi-final in the seasons that they have played. IPL 2020 under the leadership of recently-retired MS Dhoni will be a fresh challenge. The T20 carnival begins on 19th September and the final will be played on 10th November.
