Sachin Tendulkar revisits his special century against England
It was on 14th August 1990 that Sachin Tendulkar first crossed the hurdle of 100 runs in international cricket. In the years to come, he went on to do it for 99 more times. However, the first one remains very special. India needed that innings to stay alive in the match and this young prodigy delivered for the nation. At Old Trafford, Manchester, facing 408 runs to win, India were tottering at 183/6. It was Tendulkar’s masterly 119 not out that helped the visitors secure a respectful draw.
The occasion of that fantastic hundred was celebrated with great enthusiasm yesterday as fans shared their memories on social media. The legend himself revived the memories of that spectacular innings in a special video message that he posted from his official Twitter account.

Speaking about the knock, Tendulkar remembered that India had to play out a number of overs in that innings. He dug in and also attacked when the opportunity was there. That was also Sachin’s first Man of the Match award.
“When I was asked what was the difference between scoring the first hundred and 100th hundred, I said when I struck my first hundred, I did not know 99 (more were) to follow. But when I needed one to complete 100 hundred, many advising me forgot that there were 99 (such centuries) behind me,” Tendulkar revealed.
