Cricket Australia has indefinitely postponed the 3-match T20I series against West Indies proposed for October this year. The decision was announced on Tuesday (August 4) after a discussion between the two cricket boards. The ODI series against Zimbabwe that was scheduled to start on Sunday (August 9) has been postponed as well.

The three T20Is was scheduled to be played on October 4, 6 and 9 respectively at Townsville, Cairns and Gold Coast. The idea behind this short series was to prepare both teams for the 2020 T20 World Cup that was to follow. However, with the ICC postponing the Men’s T20 tournament 2021, both boards didn’t see much value in this series. Though, the dates for the Australia Women’s ODI series against New Zealand to be held at the same venues remains unchanged.
The Australian Men’s team is likely to tour England for a limited-overs series in early September. There has been no official confirmation about it yet. As of now, their first home assignment is the one-off Test against Afghanistan from November 21-25. The Aussies will then host India, with the first Test starting on December 3.
Incidentally, Team India was slated to play three T20Is from October 11-17 to kick start their series Down Under. But with the IPL now happening in the September-November window, this series is likely to be postponed towards the end of India’s tour in December-January 2021.
