Sachin, Lara, Sehwag to be seen in action on the cricket field once again
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar will be amongst a plethora of stars who will return to action to participate in a T20 tournament across India next year. He will be joined by the likes of Brett Lee and Brian Lara to play in the Road Safety World Series in 2020. The tournament is set to take place between February 2-16.
It will see retired cricketers from 5 countries – Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and India strutting their stuff. Other big names who will be in action during the tournament will be Indian legend Virender Sehwag, former Sri Lankan dasher Tillakaratne Dilshan and South African Jonty Rhodes. The news will undoubtedly come across as a delight to millions of cricket lovers across the globe, who will get to see their idols grace the field once again.
Sachin has a number of records to his name, having made 100 international centuries and scored over 34,000 runs in a glorious career which spanned for 24 years. The other names associated with the tournament also have a high-class pedigree and regarded as some of the greatest players to have ever graced the game. It is believed that around 110 retired players have all confirmed their participation in the tournament. It will have a franchise model that is prevalent across various T20 leagues around the world.
The tournament will be organized by Professional Management Group and the Road Safety Cell of the Maharashtra government to promote a social message. All the proceeds from it will go to the Road Safety Cell. The organizers aim to bring to light how the nation of India has ranked highest in the number of unfortunate deaths caused by various road accidents. The BCCI has apparently given the nod to conduct the tournament.
Sachin was last seen working his magic with the bat on the field in 2015 during the Cricket All-Stars exhibition games in the United States of America.
