On National Sports Day, Sachin bats for a fitter India
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has always been a big propagator of bringing around a sporting culture in India. Sachin has never shied away from participating in other sports apart from cricket and has always been appreciative of the efforts of other sportspersons in the country.

A striker on the carrom board as well!
On National Sports Day, Sachin first indulged in a game of carrom with some very special people at St. Anthony’s Old Age Home. The Indian batting legend looked delighted to be in the presence of the ‘Wonder Women’ and spent some quality time with them. There was palpable excitement on his face as he gleefully participated in the game. Sachin also personally interacted with as many elderly women as possible on his very special visit.
Spent some time with these wonder women at the St. Anthony's Old Age Home, felt blessed by the love shown by them. Their excitement to play carrom knew no bounds.
As rightly said by our Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi, SPORTS & FITNESS IS FOR ALL.#SportPlayingNation#FitIndiaMovement pic.twitter.com/XF78o2x5yk— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) August 29, 2019
Smashing it on the court
Sachin then got along with some of his closest friends including Vinod Kambli to play a game of tennis. He followed it up by playing some smashing hits on a badminton court. The inner child within Sachin came out as he was quite clearly having a ball trying his hand out at two of the most demanding sports in the world. Tennis, especially, has always been a passion for tennis and he sent out some serious Roger Federer vibes by playing some cracking forehands.
A day out with friends is always fun, especially when it involves sports. You get to challenge each other, and also stay FIT! Had a nice time catching up with @vinodkambli349, Jagdish & Atul.

A star-studded affair
Finally, Sachin was also joined in the mission by Bollywood superstars Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Bachchan for a game of cricket on the sets of a shoot. The Master Blaster unleashed his full flurry of strokes with his team taking a commanding position. Varun Dhawan though was not one to be left behind and showed great grit in his innings. The game eventually ended in a tie.
It’s always good to mix work with play.
Had a lot of fun playing cricket with the crew during a shoot & was pleasantly surprised with @Varun_dvn dropping by along with @juniorbachchan who joined us for some time. 😀#SportPlayingNation#FitIndiaMovement pic.twitter.com/sPqLUY08NH— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) August 29, 2019
The Prime Minister’s Message
On the occasion of National Sports Day, honouring the legacy of late great hockey player Major Dhyanchand on his birthday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Fit India Movement. As a part of the campaign, the Prime Minister has encouraged every single Indian to take their fitness seriously and participate in as many sports as possible.
Today, on National Sports Day we pledge to strength Fit India Movement! https://t.co/0BmpLreJPP

Taking great inspiration from the Prime Minister’s initiative, Sachin himself went to great lengths to send across a message about bringing a sporting culture in the nation.
Dreams of a #SportPlayingNation
Sachin Tendulkar has long been an advocate of people trying their hands out as many games as possible. He had earlier posted a video on Twitter, playing squash with maestro Ritwik Bhattacharya. He posted a video on his Twitter account, with a message which read, “Play as many sports as possible! Every sport is fun in its own way & inculcates a different physical and mental conditioning. Enjoyed playing with Squash maestro, Ritwik Bhattacharya. Learnt some finer nuances of the sport and had fun while at it. #SportPlayingNation”
