WI vs IND – How have current Indian Test bowlers fared in Caribbean
The Indian team shall be in West Indies for the next month. The Caribbean tour which begins on 3rd August consists of three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches. Virat Kohli shall be leading the troops in all three formats of the game. From the current Test squad, here is how the bowlers have fared in the previous trips.
Ravindra Jadeja
The left-arm spinner has played only one Test on the Caribbean shores. In the 2016 tour, Jadeja played in the third Test at Gros Islet. In two innings, he delivered 29.3 overs and snared three wickets while giving away just 47 runs.
Umesh Yadav
The Vidarbha bowler featured in two Test matches against West Indies in West Indies. Playing as the third seamer, Yadav bowled only 49 overs in four innings. His best effort was at Antigua where he picked up 4/41 in the first innings.

Mohammed Shami
Known for his ability to swing the ball at top pace, Shami will be one of India’s leading bowlers on this tour. He played in all four Tests of the 2016 tour. Shami snared 11 wickets in total with 4/66 being his best spell.
R Ashwin
The off-spinner favours West Indies. He scores a truckload runs against them and takes plenty of wickets as well. In the 2016 series, he took 17 wickets in four Test matches. Ashwin won two player of the match awards in the first three Tests while the fourth remained incomplete due to rain. His best bowling figures in West Indies are 7/83.
Ishant Sharma
The tall pacer is India’s most successful fast bowler in West Indies from the current lot. Ishant has 30 wickets from seven Tests and needs to take six more wickets to go past Kapil Dev’s tally. The Delhi bowler has been a part of two tours to the West Indies. In 13 innings, he has gone wicketless only once. The match figures of 10/104 achieved at Bridgetown in 2011 remain his career-best match figures.
