How the ten teams stand after the mega auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, held on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah’s Abadi Al Johar Arena, was a rollercoaster of an event across two days. With 577 players under the hammer and 182 players, including 120 Indians and 62 overseas players, ultimately securing contracts, the auction saw a total investment of a staggering INR 639.15 crore.

The headline-grabbing moment came with Rishabh Pant’s record-breaking bid by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping INR 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL auction history. This was swiftly followed by Shreyas Iyer’s INR 26.75 crore investment by Punjab Kings.

PBKS emerged as the most active team, utilising the largest purse to acquire 23 players for INR 110.15 crore. Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals also made significant investments, spending INR 80.65 crore and INR 72.80 crore respectively.

Some notable acquisitions included KL Rahul joining Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar securing an INR 10.75 crore contract with RCB, and Deepak Chahar moving to Mumbai Indians for INR 9.25 crore. Meanwhile, 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history by becoming the youngest player ever sold at an IPL auction, picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.1 crore.
