SA vs IND: 4th T20I Review – Samson, Tilak shine as India clinch series

South Africa and India concluded their four-game T20I series as both sides locked horns in the fourth T20I at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Friday, November 15. South Africa came into the game looking to level the series, while the Men in Blue hoped to clinch the series.

The fourth T20I began with the Indian team coming in to bat first and the visitors put in a performance of a lifetime. After the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma for 36, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma wreaked havoc as both completed their centuries. Samson scored 109 runs in 56 deliveries whereas Tilak scored a lightning-fast 120 in 47 deliveries, helping India post a record 283 in the first innings.

As the Proteas came out to chase the mammoth, the side crumbled against team India’s excellent bowling attack. Reeza Hendricks departed for a duck while Ryan Rickleton could score just one. Aiden Markram’s horror run continued as he scored just eight runs as South Africa were in tatters inside the powerplay.

Tristan Stubbs held one end, adding 43 runs on the board but team India continued to put the hosts under pressure with consistent wickets. Heinrich Klassen departed for a duck and David Miller added 36 on the board.

In the end, South Africa only managed to score 148 before the side was bundled out. Arshdeep Singh was the highest wicket-taker with three wickets to his name. Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel took two wickets each with Hardik Pandya, Ramandeep Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi taking one wicket each.
