IPL Retention 2025 revealed

The IPL 2024 retention deadline has passed, and all 10 franchises have submitted their lists, leading to notable changes and surprises. Key player decisions include MS Dhoni staying with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as an uncapped retention, with Ravindra Jadeja and Ruturaj Gaikwad also retained. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained only three players: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals (DC) parted ways with Rishabh Pant, focusing instead on Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

Some teams made bold moves; Rajasthan Royals released Jos Buttler and retained Indian talents like Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Riyan Parag, with a potential RTM card for Yuzvendra Chahal. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made headlines by releasing KL Rahul, while Nicholas Pooran is rumored to take on a leadership role in the team. Mumbai Indians (MI) secured key players Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as their top retentions.

These retention choices reflect teams’ shifting strategies ahead of the IPL auction in December 2024, with each team allowed to retain up to six players through retention and Right to Match (RTM) cards. The auction purse has been enhanced to ₹120 crore, alongside a new salary structure that includes incremental performance pay and match fees for players
