5 Youngest debutants in ODI cricket
ODI cricket has now been played for over five decades. The first-ever ODI match was played between England and Australia in the year 1971. Since then, there have been many young cricketers who have made their debut at a young age in their respective countries. Here’s a look at the five youngest debutants in the history of the ODIs:
5. Nitish Kumar
Canada cricketer Nitish Kumar made his ODI debut for his country at the age of 15 years and 273 days. Kumar has played 16 ODI matches for his country and scored 217 runs at an average of 15.50. The 27-year-old has also taken two wickets with his off-spin as well.
4. Gurdeep Singh
Singh made his ODI debut for the Kenya side at the age of 15 years and 258 days. Surprisingly, Singh has played just one ODI match for the Kenya side and has not played another match after his debut. He scored a solitary run in his debut match and has also represented Kenya in 10 T20I matches.
3. Gulsan Jha
At 15 years and 212 days, Nepal’s Gulsan Jha bags the third spot. The Nepal cricketer has played just one OD for his country till now. The current 16-year-old has not taken any wicket so far. He has also played one T20I match for the Nepal side.
2. Mohammad Sharif
Bangladesh cricketer Mohammad Sharif made his ODI debut for Bangladesh at the age of 15 years and 116 days in 2001. The current 36-year-old represented Bangladesh in nine ODI matches. While he scored 53 runs in his ODI career, he also scalped 10 wickets. Sharif played his last ODI in 2007 against Zimbabwe.

The youngest debutant in the history of ODI cricket is Hasan Raza. The Pakistan cricketer made his debut at the tender age of 14 years and 233 days in the year 1996. Raza played 16 ODI matches for the Pakistan side in his career. He scored 242 runs in his ODI career at an average of 18.61 and a strike rate of 50.41. He scored one fifty in ODI cricket as well. Raza played his last ODI match in the year 1999.
