Virat Kohli was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008 for a modest amount of Rs 12 lakh. Over the years, his performance kept improving each season. He took over the mantle from Daniel Vettori in 2013, and he has been captain for the Challengers ever since. He was retained by RCB for Rs 17 crore ahead of the 2018 Mega Auction.
