5 major T20 Records that do not belong to IPL

T20 format is the most exciting and entertaining format. Ever since the inception of International T20s and various T20 leagues around the world, the format gained popularity day by day. Many records have been created and broken in this enthralling format. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has also witnessed many milestones. But apart from this league, there are other big records too that have been achieved in other different leagues.

Let’s take a look at the 5 T20 records that do not belong to the IPL:

1.Chris Gayle (18 sixes)

Chris Gayle holds the record for smashing the most sixes in a T20 innings. He hit 18 sixes for Rangpur Riders against Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final in 2017. He scored 146* off 69 balls with five fours and 18 sixes with a strike rate of 211.59. His side posted 206/1 and won the match by 57 runs. Gayle was declared the Player of the Match for his breathtaking inning.

2. Sunil Narine (Super over maiden)

Sunil Narine achieved an unbelievable feat in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2014. He delivered a wicket maiden in the Super Over for Guyana Amazon Warriors against Trinbago & Tobago Red Steel. The match originally got tied and Narine’s side scored 11 runs in the Super Over. He bowled four dot balls to Nicholas Pooran and took his wicket on the fifth ball. Ross Taylor played out a dot on the last ball.

3.Colin Ackermann (7/18)

Colin Ackermann has the best bowling figures in the T20s. He delivered a spell of 7/18 in four overs for Leicestershire against Birmingham Bears in Vitality Blast in 2019. Ackermann’s side set a target of 190 for the Bears and he punctured their innings. He bowled 12 dots with an economy of 4.50 to dismiss the opposition for 134. He was adjudged with the Player of the Match award for his match-winning spell.

4.Melbourne Stars (273/2)

Big Bash League (BBL) side Melbourne Stars has registered the highest team total of 273/2 in 20 overs. Stars scripted the massive total against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2022 edition. Their skipper Glenn Maxwell went berserk as he clobbered 154* off just 64 balls with 22 fours and four sixes. Marcus Stoinis also notched up 75* off 31 deliveries as Stars played with a run rate of 13.65 to win the match by a huge margin of 106 runs.

5.Most sixes in a match (37)

37 sixes were smashed in two different games in two different leagues. In a match between Balkh Legends and Kabul Zwanan in the Afghanistan Premier League in 2018, both sides hit 37 sixes in total. 23 maximums were hammered by legends and 14 by Zwanan. The same number of sixes were slammed in a clash between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL in 2019. 21 were scored by Tallawahs and 16 by the Patriots.
