5 Current cricketers who can reach 100 sixes in Tests
Batters smashing sixes in the T20 international is a common sight for the viewers and fans. Even in the one-day international format, players do go big majorly at the start in the powerplay and in the final ten overs. But not many tend to hit it out of the park in the Test format. Only three cricketers – Brendon McCullum, Adam Gilchrist, and Ben Stokes – have managed to reach 100 sixes so far in the format while there are several other current ones who can touch the mark of a century of sixes in the near future.
Let’s take a look at the 5 current players who can touch the mark of 100 maximums in Tests:
1.Tim Southee (76)
New Zealand premier fast bowler Tim Southee is known for his lethal and world-class bowling for years now. He has been carrying the responsibility of leading the attack with Trent Boult across formats for the Kiwis. But the ace pace bowler has also the knack of slamming maximums when it comes to his batting. He has 76 sixes to his name and can easily hit more 24 to touch the feat of 100 sixes.
2.Rohit Sharma (64)
Star India batter and captain of all the formats, Rohit Sharma is the second name in this list who can reach the landmark of 100 maximums in the longest format of the game. He has 64 maximums to his name and with India playing a lot of Test matches in a year and with him being the skipper and the opener, he has every chance of slamming a few more in his career.
3.David Warner (62)
Swashbuckling Australian left-handed opener David Warner is the third name on this chart. Like India, even Australia play many Test matches in a year. Warner, who opens the batting, has smacked 62 maximums in Test cricket so far. The southpaw has played 96 Tests in his career and in the near future, he can do the double of 100 matches and as many maximums.
4.Rishabh Pant (48)
The 24-years old Indian wicketkeeper batter, Rishabh Pant can well go past the tally of 100 sixes in cricket’s oldest format. Having made his debut in the year 2018, Pant has already hammered 48 maximums. With age on his side, 52 maximums short of the century mark, the hard-hitting batter can reach this target in little time.
5.Jonny Bairstow (46)
England batter Jonny Bairstow has played 88 Test matches so far and tonked 46 maximums. He has been in the prolific form of late in the whites and with England now playing in a ‘Bazball’ way, Bairstow, who is 54 sixes short of completing 100 maximums, could well be on his way to the feat. Notably, their coach Brendon McCullum, who was known for his aggressive style of pla,, could influence Bairstow in striking big in Tests in the future.
