4 players to score 400+ runs in most consecutive IPL seasons
Scoring consistently and heavily for his side is what a batter looks to do in any format of the game and in any particular tournament. In the T20 format, where there is hardly any time for the batter to settle down, scoring runs that too regularly speaks volumes about the talent and the quality of the player. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), few high-class batters have racked up 400 plus runs on a consistent basis over the seasons.
Let’s take a look at 4 players to score 400 plus runs in consecutive seasons in the IPL:
1.Suresh Raina (2008-2014)
Suresh Raina who is also called ‘Mr.IPL’ reached the 400-run mark for the seven consecutive seasons from 2008 to 2014. Since the inaugural season, the classy left-handed Raina has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In the 2008 edition, he scored 421 runs, 434 in 2009, 520 in 2010, 438 in 2011, 441 in 2012, 548 in 2013 and 523 in 2014.
2.David Warner (2013 to 2017)
Swashbuckling Australian David Warner amassed 400 plus runs for five successive seasons from 2013 to 2017. Notably, the pocket-sized dynamo Warner also scored 692 and 548 runs in 2019 and 2020 editions respectively but the Aussie missed the entire 2018 season due to his ban. The left-handed batter mustered 410 runs in 2013, 528 in 2014, 562 in 2015, 848 in 2016, and 641 in the year 2017.
3.Shikhar Dhawan (2016 to 2021)
Southpaw Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most consistent batters in the IPL over the past few editions. The second-highest run-getter in the tournament’s history, Dhawan has managed to score 400-plus runs six consecutive times from 2016 to 2021. Playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS) currently, the left-handed batter has amassed 501 runs in 2016, 479 in 2017, 497 in 2018, 521 in 2019, 618 in 2020, and 587 runs in the year 2021.
4.KL Rahul (2018 to 2022)
Leading run-scorer in the league since 2018 by some margin, KL Rahul has been in outstanding and exceptional form since the mentioned year. Rahul, who is the skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) now, has smashed above 400 runs in five successive editions now. Classy Rahul racked up 659 runs in 2018, 593 in 2019, 670 in 2020, 626 in 2021, and 451 runs in ten games so far in the ongoing 2022 season.
