West Indies bowled 47 and 31 extras in the first and second innings respectively while the hosts England delivered 42 and 47 in the first and second innings of the match respectively as it is the third-most extras recorded in history of Test cricket. 51 byes, 45 leg byes, 37 no-balls, 29 wides and five penalty runs were the extras in the game.
2. India vs Pakistan (168)
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan met in a Test match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore in the year 2005 and 168 extras were registered in the clash. Pakistan delivered 38 extras in the first innings and 41 in the second. The hosts India bowled 76 and 13 extras in the first and second innings respectively. 69 byes, 70 leg byes, 28 no-balls and one wide were conceded in the drawn game. It is the second most extras to have been bowled in Test cricket history.

The most number of extras to have been bowled in a match came in the clash between the Caribbean side West Indies and the Asian giants Pakistan in Bridgetown in the year 1977. A total of 173 extras were delivered from both teams. West Indies bowled 35 in the first and 68 extras in the second innings. The visitors Pakistan delivered 29 and 41 extra runs in the first and second innings respectively. 37 byes, 31 leg byes, 103 no balls and two wides were registered in the match.
