3 Teams with the most wins in away T20Is
T20I is the shortest format of the game in international cricket and the teams, as well as the players, showcase their playing skills to be masters of this format. All the Test-playing nations except New Zealand, South Africa and Bangladesh have won a World Cup in the shortest format.
Meanwhile, a few teams have also succeeded in registering the most number of away T20I wins over the years by performing consistently abroad. Without further ado, here’s a look at the top three of them.
3. South Africa- 32
It is a pity that South Africa have never been able to win the T20 World Cup ever since its inception in 2007 as they failed to get past the semi-finals in the 2009 and 2014 editions. However, they have been consistent performers when it comes to registering the most victories in away T20Is.
The Proteas have won 32 T20Is away from home and have been on a roll in the shortest format this year. In fact, they have been outstanding in their last five away T20Is with no defeats in any of those bilateral series, their best performance was a 2-1 win over England.
2. India – 43
The current top-ranked T20I side India occupy the second position on this elite list. The Rohit Sharma-led side have not lost a single bilateral T20I series after their shock exit from the T20 World Cup 2021, and have been the most consistent team in the shortest format from last November. Their overseas T20I wins this year include a 2-0 whitewash in Ireland followed by a 2-1 triumph in England.
- Pakistan- 45
Pakistan take have been the best visiting side in the shortest format and it was former skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed who gave them instant recognition in this format having led them to 11 consecutive T20I series wins.
Pakistan have only featured in one T20I this year which they lost to Australia at home in April. They have not taken on any formidable opponents after April 2021 when they had won a T20Is series against the Proteas 4-1.
With 45 T20I victories under their belt, Pakistan have a good chance of adding more to their tally by showcasing consistent performances in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup in Australia.
