Scoring in excess of 600 runs in back-to-back seasons speaks volumes of the caliber of the cricketer. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), few big names have managed to rack up those many runs in consecutive editions, which is even more difficult.

David Warner (2016, 2017)

David Warner has smashed 600-plus runs for two consecutive seasons in 2016 and 2017. The southpaw scored 848 runs in 17 innings at an average of 60.57 with nine fifties in the title-winning 2016 campaign with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Warner then amassed 641 in 14 innings at an average of 58.27 with one ton and four fifties in 2017. He got banned for the 2018 season which opened the gap as he made a solid comeback in 2019 by scoring 692 runs. Warner won the Orange Cap award in the 2017 edition.

Chris Gayle (2011, 2012, 2013)

Chris Gayle has achieved this feat in three successive campaigns in 2011, 2012, and 2013. The destructive Caribbean batter mustered 608 runs in 12 innings at an average of 67.56 with two centuries and three half-centuries in 2011. He then racked up 733 runs in 14 innings at an average of 61.08 with one century and seven fifties in 2012. In 2013, Gayle hammered 708 runs in 16 innings at an average of 59.00 with one hundred and four half-centuries. He grabbed the Orange Cap award in the 2011 and 2012 editions.

KL Rahul (2020, 2021, 2022)

KL Rahul has also managed to hit 600-plus runs in three consecutive campaigns in 2020, 2021, and 2022. The stylish batter notched up 670 runs in 14 innings with one century and five half-centuries in 2020. The 30-year-old Rahul scored 626 runs in 13 innings with no century and six fifties in 2021. This year, he smashed 616 runs in 15 innings two hundred and four fifties. His average in all the seasons was 55.83, 62.60, and 51.33 respectively. Rahul won the Orange Cap award in the 2020 season. Notably, it could well have been five straight editions for him but Rahul missed the mark by just seven runs in 2019 when he finished with 593 runs after having slammed 659 runs in 2018.
