3 players who have played most Tests since the start of IPL
Playing Test cricket is not every player’s cup of tea as the name suggests it tests your fitness and grit. For Team India, Sachin Tendulkar holds the record of playing most Test matches (200). However, there are several other players on the list who have made their own legacy in the longest format of the game. On that note let’s look at a list of players who have played most Test matches since the start of IPL.
Virat Kohli (100 Tests)
Indian run-machine Virat Kohli made his Test debut against West Indies in 2011 and scored only 4 and 15 runs in both innings. However, the right-handed batter has gone on to score 8007 runs at an average over 50 in the format since then. The 33-year-old has 28 fifties 27 centuries and seven double hundreds under his name in the longest format of the game.
Ravichandran Ashwin (85 Tests)
Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added another feather to his already-illustrious hat as he became India’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test matches. The 35-year-old achieved this milestone in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali, as he went past Indian legend Kapil Dev’s tally of 434 scalps in the format. Talking about his numbers in limited-over format, Ashwin has scalped 212 wickets in 164 matches he has represented India.
Ajinkya Rahane (82 Tests)
Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane made his Test debut against Australia in the fourth and the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, in Nagpur, in March 2013. The right-hander had been a regular feature in the Indian Test side for several years before he was dropped from the side due to his form. Known as a technically sound batter, Rahane has scored a total of 4931 runs at an average of 38.52. The batter has scored 25 fifties and 12 hundreds in the longest format of the game.
