3 instances of most runs conceded by an RCB bowler in an IPL inning
In T20 cricket, a bowler can go for plenty of runs. Such is the requirement and demand of the format, a batter goes bang-bang from the start to put pressure on the fielding side. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a side that is always known for batting more than the bowling and a few RCB bowlers have leaked over 50 runs in their spells over the past few seasons.
Let’s take a look at 3 bowlers with the most runs conceded by an RCB player in an inning in the IPL:
3.Tim Southee (0/61)
New Zealand pacer Tim Southee suffered the wrath of the Caribbean power-hitter Andre Russell in the 2019 edition. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were chasing 206 to win and Russell shocked RCB in Bangalore. Southee leaked 61 runs for no wicket in his four overs spell at an economy rate of 15.25. Known as the ‘Russell Muscle’, the West Indian hammered 28 runs in five balls, which included four sixes and one a four to win the match for KKR in 19.1 overs.
2.Shane Watson (0/61)
Shane Watson also conceded 61 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final of the 2016 edition in Bangalore. SRH batted first and posted a massive total of 208/7. Watson delivered the last over and his countryman Ben Cutting went berserk. He smashed 23 runs in five balls which included three towering sixes, one of which was a 117m monster. Watson’s economy rate was also 15.25 as RCB suffered heartbreak with an eight-run loss in the summit clash.
1.Josh Hazlewood (0/64)
Josh Hazlewood has now conceded the most runs by an RCB bowler in an IPL inning. The Australian fast bowler leaked 64 runs for no wicket in his four overs spell against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing 2022 edition at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. PBKS batted first and scored 209/9 and Hazlewood endured a tough evening with an economy rate of 16 runs per over. RCB lost the encounter by 54 runs much to the agony of seamer Hazlewood.
