3 Indian batters with highest-ever ratings in ICC T20 rankings
Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and KL Rahul are the three Indians who have achieved the highest-ever ratings in ICC T20I rankings in their respective careers. The latest batting sensation and the player who has taken T20 cricket to another level, Suryakumar is currently on top of the ICC rankings.
Virat Kohli holds the record for the highest-ever ratings by an Indian in the ICC T20I rankings. He achieved the feat with 897 points against England on September 7, 2014. Having made his debut against Zimbabwe in 2010, Kohli has struck 4008 runs in 115 matches innings at an average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96 with the best score of 122*. In 107 innings, Kohli has smashed 37 fifty-plus scores in the shortest international format, which is the most by any player. The right-handed batter has also won the most Player of the Match awards (15) in T20 internationals with Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi in the second spot with 13 awards.
The no. 1 T20I batter currently, Suryakumar Yadav hit 869 points and is the second Indian with the best-ever ratings. He grabbed the feat against Zimbabwe on November 6, 2022, in the T20 WC. Suryakumar also became the first-ever Indian and second overall after Mohammad Rizwan to rack up 1000 runs in a calendar year. The Mumbai batter has also hit the most sixes (59) in a year. Enjoying a dream run in 2022, Suryakumar is also joint-top with Kohli for winning the most POTM awards (6) for India in a calendar year. Having made his debut in 2021, he has mustered 1284 runs in 38 innings at an average of 41.41 with one ton and 12 fifties.
KL Rahul is the third Indian in this elite list. He achieved the feat against England on July 3, 2018, with 854 points. He is one of the two Indians with Rohit Sharma to have slammed more than one century in the format. The right-handed batter made his maiden T20I appearance against Zimbabwe in Harare in June 2016. Since then, Rahul has scored 2265 runs in 72 matches at an average of 37.75and a strike rate of 139.12. In 68 innings, the 30-year-old has smashed two centuries and 22 half-centuries with the best score of 110*.
