3 deserving players who missed out on India’s squad for SA T20Is
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 22 (Sunday) announced their 18-member squad for the upcoming five-match series against South Africa. Some talented players including Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have been added to the Indian squads. However, there are a few names who have been left out of the Indian squad despite good performances in the build-up to the series. On that note, let us look at three deserving players who missed out on India’s squad for SA T20Is.
Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi has been one of the most consistent performers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In IPL 2022, he scored over 400 runs runs at a strike rate of 158. The right-handed batter is comfortable against both pace and spin and likes to dominate the game from ball one. He will want to continue his good performance in the domestic circuit and hope for a change.
Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan was impressive during his stint in IPL 2022. The left-handed batter played several decent knocks and ensured that his side Punjab Kings (PBKS) get a good start. Dhawan played his last T20I match in 2021 and has not got any chances to represent India in the 20-over format. Dhawan holds a lot of international experience and must be disappointed after not seeing his name on the list.
Nitish Rana
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star performer Nitish Rana was also not selected for the Indian squad despite a IPL 2022. The left-handed batter has represented India in two T20Is. Rana made his debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021 but did not get more chances for the Men in Blue. Rana will want to continue his good performance in the domestic circuit and hope that his name shows on the Indian list soon.
