3 bowlers with the most wickets in an IPL season
When the fans think about the Indian Premier League (IPL), their mind automatically goes to batter smashing the ball all around the park. However, there have been several bowlers in IPL who have taken wickets at regular intervals. On that note, let us take a look at the three bowlers with the most wickets in an IPL season.
Lasith Malinga (28 wickets in IPL 2011)
Lasith Malinga played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) between 2009 and 2019 and showed some excellent bowling skills to win many games for the Men in Blue and Gold. Malinga had his immaculate yorkers and deceptive slower ones, apart from a spicy bouncer. The right-arm pacer scalped 28 wickets in IPL 2011 and sits in the third spot on this list. In his IPL career, Malinga scalped 170 wickets in 122 matches.
Kagiso Rabada (30 wickets in IPL 2020)
Express pacer Kagiso Rabada made his debut in IPL 2017. The speedster was in his best form during the 2020 edition as he scalped 30 wickets in that edition and his side, Delhi Capitals (DC) reached the final match of that tournament. However, the Capitals did not manage to win the contest as Mumbai Indians went on to clinch their fifth IPL trophy.
Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel (32 wickets)
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Dwayne Bravo and Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel are the joint-holders for bowlers with most wickets in a single edition. While Bravo scalped 32 wicket in the 2013 edition, Harshal scalped the same number of wickets in IPL 2021. Both Bravo and Patel are the key members of their respective franchises and will want to continue their good performances in the upcoming editions as well.
