10 fastest batters to hit 100 IPL sixes

The IPL 2022 is in full swing where all the 10 participating teams are trying to outclass each other in a gruelling two-month long tournament. Apart from the team performances, individual performances i.e. the Orange Cap and Purple Cap races have also heated up as the 15th edition of the cash-rich event progresses.

Meanwhile, many batters have been making an impact with their exceptional talent and power-hitting abilities on the 22 yards ever since the inception of the tournament in 2008. However, it is their six-hitting skills that have stood out the most against quality bowlers, which helped them in creating their own identity. These big hitters include the likes of West Indies icons Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and ‘Mr.360’ AB de Villiers, to name a few.

During the IPL 2022 clash between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, an interesting stat revealed some of the batters successfully hitting sixes on a consistent basis. The stat showed the ones who were the quickest to hit 100 maximums in terms of balls taken i.e. ever since they started playing in the IPL. It is to be noted that the list also included a few batters who played in the tournament right from 2008 like Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, and Shane Watson.

The top two spots are occupied by the Caribbean duo of Andre Russell and Chris Gayle, which is hardly a surprise. Star India all-rounder and Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya climbed to the third spot in this list after hitting his 100th six in the game against SRH on April 11. Kieron Pollard and Glenn Maxwell take the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

The other active players, who have been featured in this category, are India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, and his English counterpart Jos Buttler. While no Indian player managed to clinch the top spot, what really stands out here is that four of them, including two veterans who are not in the scheme of things now as far as the IPL is concerned, have found honourable mentions.
